FUMC - Upcoming Events

On September 12 th as we return from our summer vacations, bring your children back to Sunday School, and join us for worship. Then in the afternoon, come for fellowship at the Ferguson house beginning at 1PM. This will give you an opportunity to meet Pastor Dianne in an informal environment. Bring a salad or dessert and we will provide burgers, hot dogs and drinks. We have a pool so bring your bathing suit and plan to swim. The address is 388 Oakland Parkway. Everyone is welcome!

Also, membership classes will be forming. Please contact the pastor if you are interested in becoming a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.

Just a note to mention that we are still having our regular Wednesday night prayer meeting at the Franklin United Methodist Church at 7:30pm.

It’s a wonderful time to pray together and to lift up in prayer the concerns and celebrations that are on our hearts.

We start with a meditative reading followed by a time of sharing concerns and praise, followed by open prayer as well as led prayer. We then close with prayer.

The typical time required is 30 mins. After the closing prayer, those who wish to stay longer are welcome for a time of study, prayer or discussion, or even just to spend some quiet time in Gods house, reflecting on the issues that are on your heart.

This weekly prayer meeting will continue on until further notice and you are invited to attend as you feel led and are able.

Choir Rehearsal
Choir rehearsal will begin Thursday September 9th at 7:30. All are welcome to join. For more information or to sign up please see Priscilla.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch will meet at the King Street Cafeon Wednesday September 15th at 12:30. All are welcome to join us for good food and fellowship.

Women's Book Club
The FUMC book club reads a different book each month and them meets in our homes for discussion and Christian fellowship. All women are welcome to join us whenever you are able. For Sept 14 we have Perfectly Imperfect- it is available at the Franklin library for us. We will meet at 7 pm at Kate's house.

Christmas Ornaments
There are still a number of ornaments available for purchase of our church. They are a gold plated replica of the church. Cost is $20.00/each. If you are interested in buying one please see one of the Trustees. They will be for sale after the worship service on Sundays.

Hymn Sing
There will be a hymn sing at the Franklin Healthcare/Skilled Nursing faculity on the first Tuesday of the month at 10:30am.
We need help to sing. Please see Donna Dunwiddie if you are interested.

Food Pantry Collection

We will collect Ensure for the Food Pantry on the last Sunday of the month. We have been supplying the Food Pantry with Ensure for those clients that are extremely ill. We will continue to purchase Ensure with the collections we receive. We will give the Food Pantry any monies in excess of that purchase for their use in purchasing healthy, nutritional food from the food bank. We have been informed that their need for support has increased, as they not only help those in need from Franklin, but in the surrounding 16 towns. The client income has decreased while the cost of living has increased. The Food Bank has lost one large supporter that enabled them to purchase food items at the food bank at very reasonable prices. Please look for the Outreach member holding a green canister.
Checks should be made out to FUMC with Food Pantry written on the memo line.
